dRoy, it is likely "Because plot" which I raised. On the other hand there is a very real possibility you were consciously ignoring that. I'll admit it's not a particularly satisfactory answer, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Yes, Discord did that. However, it would have been great if he obstructed the reunification of Discorded Mane Cast as well.

Really, after Discord was defeated, I did not expect much out of Chysalis. True, Twilight being thrown to Hell (I like using that phrase) and subsequent revelation were very, very, surprising, but right after that I just knew that within minutes everything is just going to be fine via somekind of emotion-fueled superattack.

If this continues to next season as well, I shall be very disappointed.

I just found a sheet music repository for FIM songs! They have several season 1 song arrangements for violin, and the best part is, the one I want to learn the most is also the only one that I could actually play right now; The Art of the Dress.

I wish they had season 2 songs for violin though. It's a neglected instrument. Even flute is better represented.

@ JT: But they've both been Elemented (Luna has even used the Elements) before so they will have already tried and failed in the past. If they had used the Elements on Chrysalis since she has no experience with them she'd probably try to dodge and fail.

@CDRW: Do they have any piano arrangements?

Anyway, I'd like to see a villain who relies primarily on manipulation. Discord did some of that, but the fact that he was a Reality Warper kinda took away from that. And yeah, I'd love to see the villain get taken down without the EOH, although it's unlikely given that it would likely result in it looking like "when all else fails, beat the crap out of the guy". Still, it would be a good teamwork lesson.

Well, if Trixie turns out to be a villain, her defeat should be interesting. She isn't exactly someone who necessitates using the rainbow laser of doom on, but should still be threatening all the same.

@Bluespade - Yes, but with exception of Fluttershy, his psychological assault was mostly based on manipulation. And very weird theatrics.

I don't really see how Trixie could be a threat, honestly.

But his manipulation wasn't necessary, since he just wound up mind controlling them anyway. He just did it for fun.
