I don't think I could ever call an episode that accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do with no real snags in it a shame. Really, the main problem people seem to have with the episode is that they wanted a different one with an epic adventure rather than a comedy. As a comedy episode, I really can't cite much of a flaw in it aside from reusing a minute of footage to make a point. Heck, it even nails the moral spot on, covering both extremes and showing how they're harmful

@Count: Superhero-based threat management systems are not terribly renowned for their efficiency.

Mostly, they're known for their human rights violations.

@Steve Nah, Diamond Tiara is such a mastermind that the only ones who know of her torment are those being tormented.

That's what I keep hearing with the whole "so much wasted potential" complaint, though.

@Lurker: Well, in my case it was less "wasted potential", and more "wow, are they seriously bringing this up for a throw away gag? I hope not". But that is all I can really say.

My personal headcanon is that the Equestrian militia is equipped specifically to deal with large, single targets (as opposed to an enemy army, which isn't really much of a thing in their history). Ponyville has a lackluster response time because the nearest military battalion is stationed in, what, Canterlot? About half a day's travel, by which time the target has already been dealt with (Cerberus, the Ursa Minor).
