@J Teeth: I think with how worked up several of them got with Trixie I can sort of buy them coming up with a plan like that, but then again, that is a very cynical interpretation.

It also didn't help that the conflict wasn't really framed all that well.

@D Roy: As far as I can tell, he's a bit bitter over the fact that JJ is so mind-breakingly popular when a lot of drawings (primarily the humanizations) all look really samey and haven't improved a whole lot. Essentially, he takes issue with JJ's decision to pump large amounts of good (albiet rather similar) artwork rather than slowing down and focusing more on improving.

i'm with JT, it the episode just jumped way to much required set up. Plus ponyvile itself felt OOC.

Biggest issue with that writer is they tend to alter the world to fit there story, not alter their story to fit the world.

And as to what was learned == to what was shown. A lot of the time i like that, becuase it's NOT the show hammering in a point that the viewer should learn all episode, it's simply showing an event, then telling us what that ONE pony took away from it and lerned from it. its not the ONLY thing you could learn or see in it, just one possible thing of many.

@nomuru - Ah. Oh well.

Time skip human version of the Ass Tattoo Crusaders and ponies around them. And Derpy.

@Seraphem You really can't call that a trend with that particular writer when she's only done three episodes and MMDW was just her first.

And if you say that Putting Your Hoof Down warped the world somehow I will fight you to the death over it. tongue

@Seraphem: I totally agree about MMDW, although I wouldn't necessarily say that the writer does that in all of her episodes. It's definitely true of that one, though.

As for the moral thing, the issue isn't so much that they don't cover all the possible morals, it's that they sometimes focus on an idea that didn't really factor into the episode at large and gloss over something that's really obvious, and as a result it sometimes makes the characters look a bit oblivious. Swarm of the Century is a good example: the stated moral was "We should have listened to Pinkie" when I think the episode much more clearly showed "Pinkie should have made an effort to explain herself rather than try to save the town on her own". "Listen to advice" is a perfectly good moral, but it wasn't really the primary problem in the episode.

It was Poor Communication Kills on both sides, really.

[up]Yeah, but I tend to put a bit more of the blame on Pinkie given that she could have rescued the town if she had spoken up. The others probably should have pressed her a bit harder for info, but given that Pinkie is kinda prone to spouting useless information, I can't really blame them for taking matters into their own hooves.

@ Roy: Twidash is the best ship so go ahead and ship it.

@ Swarm Of the Century: It was mostly Pinkie's fault IMO.

You know I think you could interpret the characters in MMDW as in character, but only if you take a really cynical interpretation of the characters in this situation.

Or if you assume other stuff happened offscreen.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

@Swarm of the Century - Ah...that episode. Yeah, it really bugged me that Pinkie just didn't tell them right away. It's hilarious that in Friendship is Witchcraft, Pinkie does says it very clearly that she needs instruments to form a one pony band to lead the parasprites out of the town. Of course, no one listens. [lol]

[up][up][up]Well I would prefer not to have to fanwank my way out of things that I think are bad (Doesn't stop me from doing it anyway thoughtongue). Besides, I don't think all that much was implied to happen off screen.

That, or Mr. Cake/Mrs. Cake.

I loved this part in Ponyville Confidential:

"Mr and Mrs. Cakes are breaking up!"

"We are?"

And yes it wasn't as bad as MMDW but the level of jerkiness being turned up so high in so many ponies just felt off to a lot of people.

i admit They are getting better, but still something they need to be careful of.

Mental image: Mr. and Mrs. Cake filing divorce papers the same way they would fill out forms for, say, opening a joint bank account. And not realizing until their attorney asks why exactly they're getting divorced.

"It said so in the... news... wait a minute."

[up][up]Jerkishness turned up in what ponies exactly? Not ponies that we had ever actually met before, that's for sure. No consistency was broken.

as to MMDW yeh I'm sure they did have some talks off screen, and that more time passed between events etc... it's just those are things that SHOULDN'T be skipped over without even a hint that they happened.

And I'm normally the guy saying it's GOOD the show doesn't feed us every bit of info on a silver platter. But that was just to much unshown,

A Ponified Johann Liebert would be a terrifying antagonist. The lectures alone. Gosh, he'd probably burn down Twilight's library and kidnap Fluttershy or something.

Of course, a ponified Johann also implies a ponified Doctor Tenma.

Bah, canon ships are boring.tongue And I have the opinon that any mane 6 pairing can work, it's just that you have to work harder with some of them then you do with others.

Also, Twidash, Pinkiedash and Lyra/Bonbon are the best pairings.
