Anyways, Pegasi in-show don't seem to use airships except to let Earth Ponies and Unicorns reach their cloud cities.

From the offical Map of Equestria, Los Pegasus looks to be a city that has cloud-buildings amongst high-rise. Perhaps that's part of this thing.

@Applelight Dunno if this was suggested but what about a Tarpalin or canopy type thing attached to the ship that holds clouds in it... could have pegasus crew members stuff clouds in it to help keep it aloft.

Im not sure if Im describing it very well though.

I think M.A. Larson said that Las/Los Pegasus was supposed to be a pun on Las Vegas. He admitted it wasn't a very good pun.

I guess they've decided to just ignore that and go with the Los Angeles thing.

@Van How often do you think a phoenix actually dies and is reborn, though? It's probably not more often than once a century or so. Twilight probably never saw Philomena in that state before, so she didn't recognize her.

And even if Celestia mentored Twilight personally, that doesn't mean she did it at the palace. It's entirely possible that Twi could have gone most of her life without seeing Philomena.

@Van Also, by the time that it Twilight could have asked about it, Philomena was already stolen by Fluttershy, and she was in full "don't let the Princess find out" mode. There was no way that she would have asked Celestia about it at that point.
