@Whatshisgame: As the comments said, that comic was a lot like Dangerous Business, specifically Gildedale! And no unicorns or pegasi live outside of Equestria? Why? Also, plants grow and seasons change by themselves. Then again, they also said that there were no dragons outside Equestria which we know isn't true.

Does the Gildedale pony have a fan nickname?

I'm thinking this map is an effort on the studio's part to establish a more consistent geography for Equestria. Not sure how much it'll affect going forward, but we'll see.

So... the Canterlot rodeo arena looks out towards the southeast. It must be pretty high up to get a clear view of the desert.

@Ed: It's a reasonable travel time uphill, so Mt. Canterlot but be pretty high up. That, and there don't seem to be any skyscraper-tier buildings in Equestria besides Manehatten and Los Pegasus.

Regarding why the rodeo was held in Canterlot: Well, Canterlot's surely got festival grounds which would make it easy to set up for different sorts of events. That would mean that they could set up for the rodeo and take it all down fairly quickly.

It just seems like Dodge City or Appleloosa or someplace like that would be more appropriate. They don't hold rodeos in Washington DC after all.
