When I think of Lauren Faust and her statement about how there's no wrong way to be a girl, I find myself wondering if she said that to provoke discussions. She did a good job demonstrating that statement in MLPFIM, didn't she? Unlike a number of fictional works that shall not be named that give the implication that it's good to be a tomboy and bad to be a girly girl! Keep in mind that female writers have put that implication in their stories, and not just male writers. sad

By the way, if there's no wrong way to be a girl, then there should be no wrong way to be a boy, either! [lol]

Pinkie is such an airhead.

Well the show is open to boys liking girly things without ridicule (as much as Spike makes a show out of it) and also manages to avoid shades of Positive Discrimination, with most chemistry between any boy/girl duos being rather even handed (eg. Twilight and Spike), the boys are more minor characters, but hardly made inferior.

Carrot Cake always seemed like a Bumbling Dad to me.

It feels weird to be talking about positive male characters instead of positive female characters.
The Eleventh Doctor is cool.

But it's pretty obvious he can handle the kids, if not Pinkie. tongue

[up]It's what My Little Pony has done. Everything's all loopy now.

Whenever the Cakes need to get stuff done without something exploding, they look for a Pinkiesitter.

They usually fail and drop her at a doorstep before running away.

Eh, I prefer the goofy, flawed but redeemable characters of both genders to more straight played positive ones. Positive Discrimination sucks not just for the Unfortunate Implications, but because it tends to make for very boring undeveloped characters.

I think that might be why Twilight and Spike's chemistry works so well, both are very multi faceted characters that compliment each other's flaws and strengths rather equally, and you get the feeling they both need each other, rather than going for a one note "super competent character babysits stupid character" dynamic all the time.

[up]Wouldn't surprise me after what happened to Luna. They could probably implement it in a manner that isn't accused of Badass Decay either (there's a lot of Crazy Awesome in the show).

Ahh, pity I missed it then. Oh! Congratulations on the 10000 pages, by the way.

And yes, Hollow Shades. ♥

The map still makes me wonder who the heck had the bright idea of building Canterlot on the side of a mountain..

It's a shame they'll never use all that real estate in the show.

Headcanon! Well after the battle with Nightmare Moon, Celestia exiled herself to a mountain because she felt she'd failed both her sister and her subjects. Her subjects disagreed and built Canterlot around her to convince her that they still wanted her to rule them and if she wouldn't they'd follow her until she did.

Now that's a striking visual: Celestia, head bowed in grief and completely oblivious to her surroundings, and a city coming up around her in fast forward, enveloping her entirely.

Morning everyone.

Did we figure out where the changelings landed? Looks like the badlands, but it might've been the San Palomino Desert too.
