I always assumed that to get to Canterlot from Ponyville you would have to go through Cloudsdale.

The way Canterlot is balanced on the mountainside, I'd want to prop it up with pile foundations if it were to be modernized.

Anyways, It looks like some places aren't mapped, like Trottingham.

@ATC: Why? We've seen them travel to Canterlot lots of times and they've never gone through Cloudsdale.

You mean farther, Orion. Further refers to ideas and non-physical stuff, like how I want to continue this discussion of the map further; but farther refers to physical distance, like how Cloudsdale is farther from Canterlot than Ponyville.

I assumed that since Canterlot is up in a mountain, you would need to fly to get to it from Ponyville, and thus Cloudsdale would be a useful go-between.

Also of note is that Cloudsdale is mobile, so it's position on any map is never going to be accurate.

@Will: San Palomina Desert might have been a former Kingdom's site from a distant past. Old Paradise Estate from G1? The Badlands might be the remnants of Flutter Valley and possible Dream Valley.

@ATC: The Friendship Express crosses the main river and snakes up several mountain tunnels to reach Canterlot. The Mountain Tunnels are demonstrated quite extensively in Hearth Warming and the S2 Finale.

@Ace Why Hoofinghton dont exist in show canon? It's like Trottingam, mentioned place not put on map.

I like to think that half of big cities isnt mentioned on that map and Equestria is still big place.

Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.
