@Seraphem I'm fairly sure that we have Word Of God on that, though I can't remember where. And mules do look rather similar to donkeys.

My theory on Alicorns is that there's only 10 of them to represent the sun, the 8 planets (except Earth) Pluto and the Moon. Cadance is a fairly recent reincarnation of the Alicorn embodying Venus.

@Bad That makes a lot of sense, actually. Where are the other alicorns, though?

@Bad Considering that their solar system appears to be geocentric, I wouldn't assume that they have the exact same planets with the exact same names as we do.

Why should Mars be evil. Couldn't Mercury be evil. I mean it is pretty much the most dangerously poisonous substance in the universe.

Angel sure is a messy eater.

[up]Because Mars is named for the god of war. Makes sense for a villain to be associated with that. Or Pluto, because Everyone Hates Hades.

Maybe alicorns reincarnate in a really long cycle, and they grow up fast until they reach maturity.

@ Sky: They rule other kingdoms. Cadance presumably rules the Crystal Empire/Kingdom. My headcanon is that the one for Pluto oversees Tartarus and used to be a princess.

@ Lurker: I'm assuming it's the same until told otherwise. They have the same stars and number of moons and stuff afterall.

@bad Didn't we make a ton of fanon concerning Pluto and Charon one time?

@JT: "Because Mars is named for the god of war".

So then what does that mean whenever someone calls me "Mars" as an abbreviation for my username?tongue

Pony Princesses... Reincarnation.... each aligned to a different planet...

You guys know you're basically turning MLP into Sailor Moon, right?

(So does that make Luna their leader?)

Like Reality Unless Noted.

That and it being a kids show, they're more likely to stick with planets that the audience might have heard of.

The weird part is that their geocentrism conincides with scientifically accurate comets.

My headcanon is that prince and princess are generic terms for high level unicorns in the government, thus explaining Blueblood.

Unless Rarity's wrong when she referred to Blueblood as Celestia's nephew, that doesn't hold up. :/

@Bad Well, we've already been told otherwise, given the different cosmology inherent in the way the sun and moon function. That's enough to turn me off of the heavenly bodies theory, in any case. I prefer to just have the alicorns embody some fundamental concept, such as Day, Night, and Love in the cases of the ones we know about. No need to tie in secondary symbolism unnecessarily.

She is. Blueblood isn't really related to Celestia in any meaningful sense.

@ed Your mind creates reality when you sleep. Try not to have nightmares.

Also, dat Jubilee. She seems to be a pretty underused character to me.
