Yes if not for idiot ball he could run away from Mane Cast and Elements of Harmony.

I could actually imagine that happening: With the elements back, Discord retreats. During certain episodes of the season, Celestia instructs the cast to travel to towns that are being terrorized by Discord. He always flees at the end of said episodes, before finally being defeated in the season finale, where he reveals that the mane cast's actions during his episodes went: "Exactly As Planned"

To be fair the only reason Aku ran every time Jack encountered him was that the sword could hurt him. Otherwise he'd probably fight.

@gingerninja 666: Pretty much, there really is no reason why Discord should have lost. I mean, I don't see why at any point after the mane cast got "un-grayed" he could have just come up and "grayed" them again. In my opinion its the second biggest problem with the two-parter (first being passing).

Speaking of which, what is the most convenient way to read tumblr (in Firefox)? Each post has thumbnails of everything but they're too small and cut off stuff. But if I click on a thumbnail, only that image shows up, so I have to click on every panel individually to read it, and it's annoying.

^ It would have been fine if their grayness hadn't been confirmed as diagetic. Since apart from that Discord thought they were still unharmonized and got overconfident.

Now, I'm a film student, so identifying problems with pacing is something I desperately need to learn. Currently, I'm terrible at it.

What was wrong with the pacing exactly?

Well to be honest I just felt that the episode was moving along to quickly, particularly during the maze sequence. I'm really not sure if I can express it anymore specifically then that. I might try to later, but I'm kinda busy right now.

My main gripe with the pacing was that they tried to cram too much into the space they had; if they would have had more time to get everything set up.

I agree that the maze stuff should have been done more slowly. It would have been nice to explore the characterization in more detail. Though I'm willing to forgive it because it was either cram it in or have a 3 part pilot.

Rule of Funny, most likely. And the fact that Twilight is getting progressively more frustrated and unable to think clearly.

Also, I moved some MLP episodes from my computer onto my PS3 so I could watch them on my tv. Surprisingly the quality was pretty good, given that the files are low quality mpegs.

No, Celestia is more powerful than Luna because she's smarter and more apt at using her magic and at planning ahead in fights. At least from all the Fanon I read, fighting with her is like fighting a Joestar. She'll seem half dead, and all along she'll have been pulling some bizarre shit and win against you by using your own strenght.

I think she can't deal with Discord because he makes her lose her cool and, if she not only raises the sun but keeps it going, he might just be able to piss her off enough that she's use Wrath Of God

◊ and nuke the shit out of him... and everything within a certain radius.

A case of true love has the same redeeming power as a case of genuine curiosity: they are the same.

Eh, I don't know if she's powerful enough to beat Discord in raw power; her attitude about him makes it pretty clear that he's nearly unbeatable without the Elements of Harmony.

Also, now I'm envisioning the Jojos fighting Discord while the ponies fight Dio and the Pillar men. I'm not sure whether that's awesome, or horrible.

All problems with Ro H can be fixed by making them longer like 3-4 episodes. What mean more adventure episodes.

That's true, but I really doubt that they could have started the season off with a four-parter. Really, the whole Discord thing would have worked best as The Movie; there'd be less trouble worrying about getting it to the right length.

Like I said, there's no problem with having adventure episodes; I'm just saying that it wouldn't have worked to drag the Discord stuff out for too many episodes. They need to be scattered through the season, not clumped together at the beginning.
