btw, what's the prevailing consensus regarding why Luna looks so young after being purified?

Is it suggested that she stopped ageing while trapped in the moon?

She not just stopped aging. She was completly suspended in any thign , similar to what hapen to Lister at begining of Red Dwarf.

They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.

^That's debatable. My opinion is that Luna didn't age, but if she was in stasis, Nightmare Moon wasn't. Nightmare Moon obviously knew exactly how long she'd been sealed, so she can't have been entirely insensate.

So what did NM look like immediately after being born then?

Did she look like how she did in the pilot? Or was she luna sized?

What if Luna was just that much younger?

Celestia: (deadpan) "I'm a thousand years older than you..."

The artwork seems to depict them as being similarly aged.

but yeah, it's a possibility.

It could also explain why her NM form looks so much older: She's trying to depict herself as being equal if not superior to her sister in EVERY possible way, including size and maturity.

One of these episodes I'd like to hear the story of where the Alicorns came from.

What were the Princesses before Discord was defeated? Were they just normal citizens of Equestria? Judging by their level of power I highly doubt that. Did they travel over from another country?

I bet there's like an entire kingdom of Alicorns outside of Equestria, and those two decided to travel the world for some reason before discovering Discord

Someone asked about Queens and Princess a while ago. I've done research and in most societies a princess becomes a queen when she marries someone. That someone then becomes a king. So Kings and Queens come as a package deal, at least until somepony dies, but you can have as many princesses as you want.

You can have princes that don't become kings. Their territories are called a "principality". Prince is just a word for Just The First Citizen.

Sorry, my mistake. You CAN have a Queen without a King, but you cannot have a queen witout a HUSBAND. Unless he dies or something. It's most likely Celestia would remain a Princess until she tied the knot. At least, if Pony monarchy works anything like ours do.

Celestia is a queen in everything. But the name.

Word Of God is that queens are generally consiered evil hence the reason she is referred as princess.

I personally like the change, even if Lauren doesn't. Mostly because it helps maintain the notion that Luna and Celestia are supposed to be complete equals.

No way in hell they are. Celestia owns everyone (BEEEYAAATCH). She's like a nice Vetinari.

I think the title princess fits her general attitude much better: again, Just The First Citizen.

and that bugs me: One of the things I liked about Discord was that he was a challenge that Celestia couldn't handle. The idea that she could single-handedly solve every problem by herself is... slightly irritating for me.

If Luna was her equal then it wouldn't be so bad, since there's a person to match her.

No real reason they shouldn't be. They're both capable of creating vast Celestial bodies and manipulating them.

It can be argued that Celestia probably has more experience and skill than Luna (since she wasn't locked away for 1000 years and therefore had more time to practice) but I think in terms of RAW power they're about equal

I wouldn't be surprised if they were roughly equal in power, but was it ever stated that they actually made the sun and moon rather then just manipulate them?

Also while I guess its nice that there is a villain that can not be dealt with by Celestia, I personally felt they made Discord way to powerful.

Yeah, I can see that, but I'm a massive fan of villainous Reality Warpers, so it didn't bug me THAT much
