Yeah, there are actually a lot of songs like that. Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car", is another example.

Err... nope.

The legs and underbelly of a warhorse is almost never armored, be it an European caparisoned hunter or a Nisean-breed cataphract mount. For one thing, it hinders speed and travel, and for other, a horse's lower leg and belly is quite hard and literally impossible to target respectively.

For most cases, a mail barding caparison and front breastplate would work against most forms of damage for a warhorse. Except pikes.
