And a pony in a poncho that obscures his cutie mark shows up, and nobody knows his name.

The races wouldn't need to be balanced, you'd just have commanders using each race's features to their advantage.

Pegasi, assuming their wings still work in the battle room, can maneuver in midair instead of needing to land somewhere before changing direction.

Earth ponies can kick off hard, launching themselves faster than any of the other two races. This generally lends itself to either a blitz attack, or darting to a flanking position behind the other army.

Unicorn magic is generally an unpredictable grab bag, although the shared telekinesis ability allows for some measure of control in their movements, though not nearly as much as with pegasi.

You sound like you got this really figured out.

I think you could write it as a good story.

Not much thinking on my part, I just conjured all that up as I was typing.

And I'm afraid I'll have to decline. I was never inclined toward writing action scenes, all my writing tends to be more focused on the emotional aspect of the story.

I just don't have any good ideas that wouldn't just rehash the story with ponies instead of humans.

I'll think on it some more maybe.

Generally speaking, I think it would be better to just transplant characters as they are into the new setting, tweaking a few details to fit, and see what kind of story springs up from there.

But then, that's based on my preference for characters staying as close to their canon characterization as reasonably possible. I feel a bit queasy shoehorning someone into a role they don't fit almost perfectly well.

As cool as an Ender's Game crossover would be, it would prolly stray into Grim Dark territory. I would suck at that.

Apparently Pizza Hut goes pretty far to make their customers happy.

You could make it Lighter and Softer if you want.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

Ha, I saw that Pizza Hut thing.

Lighter and Softer would seem contradictory to the whole point of the book.

What's the point? War is hell? Training children as generals is a bad idea?

Yeah. I don't think those are themes that would merge seamlessly with My Little Pony.

That's just me, though.

Yeah, you'd have to overhaul the setting to a ridiculous degree to make the book's central theme work. I'm sure that would be fine with a lot of people, but I'm a bit of a canon slave when it comes to stuff like that. tongue

I went to see Cirque Du Soleil Dralion on Saturday night... It was awesome (I couldnt help but think of ATLA because there were four guys dressed almost exactly in the right colors to represent the 4 nations)

But I also got food poisoning from the dinner we had before the show... so Sunday was a miserable waste of a day.

[up]The beginning of Homestuck has nothing on later installments when it comes to clowns.

Also, hope you start feeling better. Food poisoning sucks.

I've heard of Homestuck, but I've never read it.

Would you recommend it?

@condo Apparently it's kind of Love It or Hate It.

Some parts of it I quite enjoy, others I could do without...

It's something that's good or bad on an individual basis. It's personally one of my favorite stories. I recommend it if you can remember a lot of things easily, and don't mind how the story is written.
Also, if you do end up reading it, try not to skip anything.

The beginning of Homestuck has nothing on later installments when it comes to clowns.

@Condo: Given your love for convoluted plots and Genius Bonus (I recall you mentioning Primer), I think you would really like Homestuck.

Just keep in mind that Act 1 is very non-indicative of the writing quality and scope of later acts. But if you get through Act 2 and you're still not hooked, then it may not be for you.
