I only read Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. Never got around to reading further into the series.
I took a guess and cut a portion out of my heart.
He said, "That's nowhere close enough, but it's a damn good start."

Hm, I could see a Ender's Game/MLP crossover working pretty nicely...
But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.

Yeah, that'd be cool.

Which scenario do you prefer, the ponies as the aliens, or the ponies running the Battle School?

I prefer the latter.

Ooh, good idea! Now we just need someone who can write well (id est not me) to fic it!

I have written lots of fics in my spare time, but have never been brave enough to publish.

I am pretty good, and have taken a couple writing classes, but I'm still an amateur. I promise to take a crack at it if you guys go easy on me.

Ponies vs. changelings, so we can keep the bugger slang?

Pegasi would be at a disadvantage at Battle School, at least during the battles. Wings don't exactly work the way they normally do when in space.

They're still in atmosphere, so they'd actually have a huge advantage.

That makes sense. Who should be the Ender?

Perhaps Sweetie Belle (she always struck me as the most calculating of the Crusaders), with Diamond Tiara as Peter and Silver Spoon as Valentine? tongue

That would make Applebloom Petra, Scootaloo Alai, and Pipsqueak Bean, I'd guess tongue
But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.

I think DT would be Bonzo. Scoots would so be Petra. I think Bloom would be my Ender.

I agree that Pip would be Bean, though.

We could have it take place at Battle School to avoid the Peter parallel, cause none of them really have siblings like that.

I think I'd make Sweetie Belle Alai, then.

On second thought, I don't think I could do this. I'd have to shoehorn a lot of personalities.

I'll try, but I doubt it'll be very good.

Bear with me, aright?

Sure, sure. I am not a native English speaker, so I doubt I'd be worth much as a proofreader; but once you've written it, I'd certainly be curious to give it a look.

Italian.

Oh, I wish I could speak Italian!

That is the one country I want to see before I die.

My handle is even kind of joke in Italian — see, we learned about these Italian warlords called Condottieri in AP World History, and the teacher said the singular is Condottiero, or Condottiera for a female, even though none of them were ever girls.

So, I picked it as to be my name as like, hey, I'm the ruler of nothing!

I am going to learn to speak Latin this year, though.

Well, I may be biased, but I think it's a pretty nice country too. smile

Right now I'm in a peaceful little town in the Apennine Mountains, more or less on the border between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna (it's the town my family comes from originally, and we generally go there for holidays.) It's not as awe-inspiring as certain parts of the Alps, but it's a peaceful place with beautiful scenery and a lot of pleasant walks: for example, just a few days ago I went up this path (the cross on the top is the peak of the Corno alle Scale, the biggest mountain around here and the end of the path.)

Wow, that must be amazing.

Yeah, I envy you. I am surrounded by flat empty fields, blackened land wasted by grass fires, and... I honestly can't think of anything else to add to my description.

Endless highways? :P
condottiera avatar
#14972 from Chicago
I saw below me a golden valley.

But that's endless skyway, not endless highway.

But there is a highway called the Skyway.

There is just so much great Italian art. There were lots of great Italian filmmakers, too.

Hey, Carciofus, have you ever seen 8 1/2? It's pretty cool.

Jeez, do we really not have a page for that one?

I think if they had battles like in Ender's Game they'd find a way to balance the races. Also, I'm a native English speaker, os I could help proofread if you really need a proofreader.

It's just the more I think about this, the more I doubt it would be a good story.

Thinking about it did give me an idea for a story where a comic misunderstanding makes Braeburn the new sheriff of Appaloosa, though.

Meanwhile they have to stop the evil Hedy Lamarr from building a new railroad through Appleloosa.
