Reading through this mess...exactly how is editing the pages of this place supposed to be fun exactly? You can sit and type something out for hours on end, only to have someone else come along and undo it all, and then, trying to redo it gets you banned from editing (a blessing if you ask me), and sent to explain yourself to...those guys.

I mean...what is the bloody point? I've never seen a bigger waste of one's time in my life. I'm right to avoid it. It just looks like a big pointless mess.

If someone deletes something without reason, you take it up with the discussion. It's not that big of a deal. If they delete everything for no reason, report it.

Maybe...I'm just here to chat with you guys (whilst that's still allowed) and exchange ideas for fiction via P Ms. Editing just feels like pulling teeth to me.

By the way, I've been drinking so...yeah, the blood's up.

Editing is rough in any sort of wiki, I'd assume.

This is also not your site. You can't get mad if it isn't run the way you see fit. People own it. They have a right to decide what to do with it and how to run it.

Then if they drive everyone away, they drive everyone away. Believe it or not, most people don't care what the administration does.

Meh, like I said, I've explained my grievances already in a more appropriate place. Main thing I've learned is to not get involved in the politics of the wiki. Which is a shame, as I think the site itself and the parts of the community I've seen are great.

I honestly do wish we could all just use the other forum, so that I can finally be done with this place one and for all.

I think the editing rules are pretty reasonable myself.

I've never personally witnessed the mods do anything awful either.

I like this forum a lot, and the wiki as well. I was a big fan of the site for YEARS before I ever noticed the forum.

Editing here is pretty easy, really

It's really easy to edit. Someone CAN come along and undo what you've done, but that's true for any Wiki. I'm never had anyone change an edit I've made as far as I'm aware, but I haven't done a whole lot of editing. I mostly had to learn all the rules and stuff back when I was making my Land Games page.

Ha, someone actually did bother to make an edit on that page since the last time I checked it. Apparently I misused a trope. I'm not sure why they cared, since it's a page for a dead web novel no one read anyway.

Look, I know you don't like certain aspects of the site, but so long as you ARE going to remain a member of the community I don't think you should be so negative about it. It's just gonna invite trouble as people are going to get annoyed and tell you to just leave if you hate it so much. Maybe no one will around here, but...

@Apple: Don't let the administration sour you on the rest of the site. I hardly agree with a lot of the administrations decisions, but I still find the main wiki to be one of the most useful sites I've ever come across. Don't let your beef with one or two people ruin the entire thing for you, especially when they aren't even really involved in 90% of what goes on in the wiki proper. No matter how much I might disagree with some of their actions, it doesn't change the fact that I've probably gotten thousands of hours of entertainment out of reading trope and work pages. And, dare I say it, education. I guarantee you that I would not be as good of a writer as I am (which isn't spectacular, but still) if it weren't for this site. I realize you have issues with the way the moderation handles certain issues, but the wiki itself is still well worth reading and I won't hesitate to say that it's probably been equally useful to a lot of other authors. Your donation wasn't wasted. A lot of people (myself included) greatly enjoy reading the wiki.

The rules about editing kinda make sense: you don't do major "overhaul the page" level changes without discussing it first. Otherwise anybody could come it an any given time and erase everything and replace it with their own stuff. The discussion system is to protect against that. There's no rule against putting stuff in an article, but if you're making a massive change you should check first so it doesn't cause a headache later.

In any case, if you really were drinking, I'd advise you to sign off for a while and sober up before you say something that could get you in trouble.

Yeah, I love this site. I owe a TON of things I've become a fan of to discover via this site: Code Geass, Homestuck, My Little Pony, The Dresden Files, Mass Effect, etc...

Yeah, out of pretty much everything I've written, 90% of it probably wouldn't exist if not for this site. Heck, 75% of the shows and books and whatnot I'm into I found through here.

Case in point, I'm finally getting back on my original stories, and I'm formatting the info section as a trope page, because I find it really useful way to catalog information.
