The story's idea caught my interest...
I too had the idea Nightmare Moon could have been a separate entity, rather than her being an evil Luna. My theory was that the Nightmare Moon entity was created when Discord reached out telepathically to exploit Luna's insecurities, who had possessed her after Discord had broken her will.

Is Nyx a Mary Sue? Are the characters derailed muchly?

Nyx is hardly what I would call a mary sue. and Character Derailments are more of a "This was written before season 2" thing than actual derailment.
Been thinking about the possible sequel to Better Living Through Science and Ponies...
The only thing I could think of is Wheatley falling from space and crashlanding onto Equestria. Hey, if Space Core could wind up in Skyrim, who's to say that Wheatley can't wind up in Equestria?

Speaking of Twilight and Pinkie pie, I'm hoping that the new episode has a bit more of their shenigans played up, because those two make a great comic duo.
Funny you should mention that. Celestia did match wits with GLaDOS in Better Living Through Science and Ponies. Celestia managed to out-troll GLaDOS, causing her to basically ragequit.
