You forget that most of the fanbase is based on the internet, which has been known to cause ones popularity to increase exponentially. Another not so insignificant reason is because the show is way better than what they usually put on TV nowadays.

Yeah, from what I've read, Tara tended to post "Sexy" pictures of charectors she voiced from various shows she was in. The most recent one that I remember {Which caused a HUGE shitstorm on EQD} was a picture of Twilight Sparkle.

Tara's playful enough that I wouldn't doubt trolling to be her default state.

As far as I can tell, her most recent streak was in response to one of her friends pestering her for pictures of her Valentine's Day outfit, so she trolled them (and as a bonus, half the internet) by posting questionable pics of her voice roles. Including, most relevantly here, a Stupid Sexy Twilight.

The fanworks produced by the Bronies are no doubt the best I've ever seen, hooves down...

And yet they are still mocked and despised.

It's sad that our society rejects things that deviate from social and cultural norms and judges solely on appearances. It really shakes my faith in humanity.

My defense argument: If My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic wasn't a good show, would it have gotten so many fans from the periphery demographic?

Though I'm not sure if that would work on my brother, since he stubbornly refuses to even hear me out.
