Different people. Probably a different atmosphere, but I'm terrible at reading atmospheres. Also a lot slower pace here, it seems.

I never liked the term "pegasister". Something about it just sounds wrong. No idea what, though.

I've always used the term "Brony" to describe anyone who's not in the target audience. "Pegasister" kinda sounds like something Rainbow Dash would call Fluttershy.
That's why I stopped reading the fanfiction threads for MLP. It was a little too serious for my taste. It seemed like they were creating an entirely new continuity. Not that I'm against that, per se, it's just not my thing.

There are some times when I wonder how Equestria is still standing. Most of the ponies seem to forget important things all too easily, and other times they're completely oblivious to a serious threat.

I think that all creatures in Equestria are inundated with varying amounts of magic. How else could flying creatures perch on clouds like pegasi?
The magic itself may have originated as a side effect of a disaster that covered Equestria in (
mostly harmless) magic fallout.

True...but in most fantasy settings where magic is a big thing, I prefer to use magic or Magitek as an explanation for things that are otherwise unexplainable.

Also, I think that when Pinkie was explaining to the CMCs about growing up on a rock farm, they misheard her. She grew up on a
roc farm. Her family bred giant birds!

You collect snow with a Shovel, but that's something else.
I almost named a character in my story Summer Sun (that Pinkie Pie-like filly I mentioned earlier) before realizing that's the name of the festival in the pilot. So I quickly changed it to Summer Song.
