Wow, I go to bed and there's more Season 3 stuff revealed.

Really glad to see the Crystal Empire stuff is going to be in the show (or is it Crystal Kingdom?). It looks like my theory/wish that the Mane 6 would act as Equestrian Ambassadors might actually turn out to be true. Based on the tiny clip we've seen so far, I'm guessing there isn't really a "villain" of the Crystal Kingdom episodes, and that it's going to be resolved more through peaceful means. Or maybe Twi and crew just didn't know about the villain yet.

Has anyone seen the XBLA version of Spelunky? It looks cool but I don't have an xbox And I never did beat the original anyway.

@Story Because it's one tiny line compared to improved graphics, music, and bonus modes? Plus, you know, supporting the developer, which is always nice.

Yeah, or maybe the Crystal Empire is running a scam like the Emerald City, and it isn't really full of crystal; they just force all visitors to wear special glasses to make it look that way.

Huh, woke up to some pretty big spoilers.

I wonder what exactly does it mean for the crystal ponies to "lose their magic". Are they just incapable of cast spells or is it far more serious? If nothing else it doesn't look like this is going to collapse into failure based shenanigans (so far), which I appreciate, but it does make me wonder how the whole thing is going to play out.

I guessing this is going to be our season opener, since it seems to big to be a normal episode, and it seems to early to be giving out finale spoilers.

@ Ace: Ahh. Too bad. He's a pretty interesting character. He's mainly defined by his sense of wonder at the rest of the world due to the fact that he was only brought to life in the mid-nineties. He also had some angst regarding the fact that he was an artificial construct and lacked a soul.

You know, I think it'd be interesting if the Crystal Kingdom was reminiscent of Brigadoon.

@Story There's also Cave Story +, which is the version sold on Steam, which still has improved graphics/music, but it's more like improving things from 8-bit to 16-bit retro style rather than the overhaul 3D has.

I do really like the stylistic reinterpretations of some of the music in the 3D music, though:

Then there's Eversion, which seems like a really pointless remake to me. Unlike Cave Story and Spelunky it has no real story and no replayability.

Also, I am angered that I am entirely unable to beat Monster X on Hard Mode in Cave Story.

Yeah, that really is pointless if they didn't change anything besides the graphics. At least expand your story or bring something new to the table rather than simply improving your graphics.
