My headcanon is that Apple Bloom is adopted, there is a restaraunt in Canterlot run by a pony named Chef Field, Fluttershy's parents lost her as a baby and have been looking for her ever since, and Rarity will eventually reciprocate Spike's affections.

My headcanon is that Fluttershy's parents (and the rest of her clan or tribe or whatever) died, likely from a dragon attack. She was the sole survivor, and was a doorstop baby to earth ponies.
