@Perpetual: The ponies only eat plant material, and if only the E Ps can grow food well, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to think that they'd have a leg up in preparing it well. There power isn't linked to earth as in "dirt", but in the whole process of growing things. I just assume that cooking is the next step in that process.

@JT Eh, it seems like a bit of a stretch to me, since cooking is pretty removed from any natural process. Headcanon is headcanon, though, so no harm done.

Isn't Sugarcube Corner more of a bakery than a candy story, though? I mean, it's kinda run by Mr. and Mrs. CAKE, and that's what we see them making the vast majority of the time.

Actually, I don't think we've ever seen them making candy. They've only ever done baked goods and general catering.
