Yeah, you can, it's just tough to get the timing down. Especially with AJ and Fluttershy because you have to get close up.

Also, I'm kinda tempted to make a trope page for it.

That's odd. Everyone says Gilda is hardest with RD but I managed to beat her without even being hurt, despite dieing on the first two bosses with RD.

With AJ and Fluttershy you don't have to worry about it since you can out damage him anyway.

I haven't been able to avoid Discord's attacks a single time. I guess you just have to practice it a lot.

What the heck? Rarity can't teleport! Also, I've lost count of the number of times I've died on that one pit at the start of level 4. I even died once there was Rainbow Dash.

I see what you mean about Fluttershy being easy mode. I beat Discord with 6 lives left (also the only one wehre I didn't die on Discord). Though funnily enough, I did die on Iron Will.

Yeah, Fluttershy is really powerful. Probably why she's the last pony you unlock. Applejack is probably the hardest. Almost no range, and you have to turn her around to attack anything.

I just rewatched Secret of My Excess. It was a much more awesome episode than I recall. At the risk of starting up another debate, I have to say now that I watched it again it was quite obvious that Rarity was intentionally trying to get Spike to give her the gem. She did seem surprised when he actually did so though.

One weird thing I noticed: early in the episode Rarity says she's going to make a special cape for each of her friends, and at the end of the episode they each get one, all unique and crafted for the individual pony. And then they're never seen again. It seems weird that the artists would have gone through the trouble to design them for no reason... maybe we'll see them in season 3?
