In my fanfic idea Griffins are more like orks/klingons and even speak in klingon language.

They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.

But with characters like Zecorah, you could clearly tell that english wasn't her natrual language. Gilda was speaking it perfectly

Well, the only things Zecora had was that she Rhymes on a Dime and had a thick accent, but otherwise she spoke fluently, IMO.

Just because there is a universal langauge doesn't mean that cultural quirks or accents don't show when it's spoken.

Who knows. Gilda was just one induvidual. And yes, so was Zecora, but Zecora clearly gives off the "follows traditions" type while Gilda seemed more rebellious.

Not all the people in a nation act and talk the same, even if they share an accent.

That's true. My personal canon (and subsequently my fic-canon) is that gryphons inhabit their own country, but that a significant population of them inhabit the Drackenridge Mountains to the west of Equestria. Gilda was abandoned by her parents after they taught her the rudiments of flight - not an uncommon thing at all in gryphon culture; the only unusual bit is that she was deposited at Flight School in Cloudsdale.

I jst remembered the scene where Gilda and RD sung that flight camp motto together. Strangely, I found it kinda heartwarming.

It's like the only nice thing Gilda ever does for the entire episode
