I thought the point of Fanon was to write a good story that's entertaining?

I think what he's getting at is that it limits the character by making him into a walking Doctor Who shout out, and that anybody who doesn't care about Doctor Who is going to basically ignore him. I know that out of the popular background ponies, he's probably the one that I ignore most, mainly because I don't watch Doctor Who and don't really care about the fanon characterization of "The Doctor, but he's a pony".

@waz The point of fanon, IMO, is to fill in holes in canon in a way that that could conceivably be canonical. That last part is important because for most people, their fanon is how they actually view the work's canon, so for someone to hold fanon that is outright impossible or contradictory to canon means that they are more or less Jossed from the get go, and are essentially in denial.

Now, like I said, it really is harmless. Just a pet peeve.

@JT: Broadly speaking, I think that's kind of inevitable with any depiction of any character. I mean, if you don't like the CM Cs, but the writers find them interesting enough to appear in later episodes, then that's going to "alienate" you because you don't enjoy the characters. As long as they make Dr. Hooves interesting in some way, then I find no problem with him being in the show (and believe me when I say I'm no Dr. Who fan either!).

Yeah, that's my only gripe, along with the fact that the collision detection on the clouds in rather unreliable.

Well, AJ has really short range and cant' fly or teleport, but her bucks do more damage than any other attack so far. Not sure about Pinkie; haven't unlocked her yet.
