The timing isn't that bad, it's just really hard to avoid taking at least one fireball every time you stop to attack him.

Also, Rarity vs. Diamond Dogs is just as easy as one would expect.

This game sounds great.

Hope to be able to play it soon.

Man, they could really flesh this out into a fuller game. Tighten those controls, a decent story, tons of multiple paths... Yes please.

It's a shame there's no Nightmare Moon. They've got a random dragon but no Nightmare Moon.

This is one heckuva nostalgia bomb :D

That pony game was actually fun, now I'm stoked for a Zelda-style Pony game :D

Dammit! When I try to play the game, it just goes to a white screen after a few seconds of loading screen!

The overall design philosophy here is rather brilliant, using alternate paths to shake up gameplay Sonic the Hedgehog 3 style. Fangames need to take a few hints from this.

[up]Plus a little Sonic CD/Eversion style time travel/alternate dimensions, too.

Indeed. They could easily make this a full game by just beefing up the number of levels to a dozen or so, and adding more playable characters and bosses. I'd also like to see a bit more difference in the aesthetics of the levels; like the one before you fight the Diamond Dogs could be underground or something.

EDIT: Also, holy crap is Fluttershy overpowered.

Okay, AJ's damage is huge! Her boss fights last about 5 seconds! But how am I supposed to knock down those walls in level 3? If I get to the ledge, there's no space to turn around to kick!

Fluttershy OP?

Naaaaaaahhh.

[up]You can jump at it, turn around in mid air and kick. It's hard as hell.

@Sereg: Jump, spin in the air, and kick. It's tough, but doable.

Worked out an alternate way. Once on the ledge, jump and kick the ceiling wall behind you. Then jump onto the floor wall.

Re: Discord fight: If you jump at him such that you'd land right in front of him, making sure you get as much hang time as possible, the fireballs are likely to miss (I think the odd angle makes him think I'm still directly in front of him because that's where the fireballs tend to go). Using this technique I only lost 1 life (it's a bit harder to get away after rushing him like that, but it's worth getting the hits in, especially with the beam spam characters who can get 5-6 hits) and that was with him only having half a heart left. Fluttershy I took him down without losing any lives (although I only had a quarter of a heart left). Dashie was a little rougher, but not by much. AJ was a battle of attrition for me, though.

And for anyone other than Dashie, Gilda is so easy to camp. Ranged can just sit on the initial cloud and beam spam whenever she approaches. Same thing for AJ and Flutters, except Gilda needs to get into melee range (which she will) and should end in her getting utterly clobbered. Dashie is stuck jousting her, though and Gilda has priority if they both use their dash at the same time.

Yep, AJ is definitely the easiest so far.

Yeah, AJ can take Gilda down in two or three kicks. Fluttershy is probably the easiest though, due to the flight ability, and the fact she doesn't have to turn around to use the stare.

Fluttershy is indeed overpowered. She's got great mobility and is only second to AJ in damage output. But she doesn't have to turn around to attack. She lacks range, but it hardly matters. The end of level 6 can be a little trickier for her since she can't alternate dash->fly->dash->fly->etc. to easymode the ceiling spikes, but that's just one section of the entire game.

How does AJ beat Iron Will?! He's immune to her kicks while charging and will only stand still while she's out of range!

Honestly, I didn't think that was all that hard either. The Diamond Dogs and the Discord fight were the only ones that were that hard. And even then it was more just due to lack of range. You hit one dog and the one behind him hits you. Still pretty easy though.

@ Sereg: I just ran up and kicked him after he charged.

@Sereg: It's a matter of timing. As soon as he charges, jump over him, run over and turn around. If you time it right you can get a kick or two in, run away and be ready to jump the next charge.

I'll try again.

EDIT: I guess that I'm having speed and reaction time issues. I try jumping, but he still hits me anyway (I haven't managed to avoid a single one of his charges in four attempts at the level) and the instant I get close to him, he charges again.
