I wonder if being aware that you are in Sleep paralysis have any effect on it.

I have those every time I take a step downward in a dream.

One of the funniest safety measures my body seems to have hardwired is that I can break sleep paralysis really easily if I need to run for the toilet

I hate Hypnic Jerks. And now I know the name of my rarely occurring nemesis.

Okay, now I can imagine a fanfic where Fluttershy is briefly terrified by sleep paralysis one night. Later on she finds out all the Mane Six have experienced it as well at some point or other.

@Death Cloud: If you weren't aware during it, that would just be normal sleep.

My dog broke a window last night to get in the house. I really don't know what I'm going to do with her.

Ah, Hypnic Jerks - so that's what those are called.

Yeah, I get those a fair bit as well, sometimes a couple times a night.

I've had those Hypnic Jerks as well. It's a strange thing.

Re: sleep paralysis: Yeesh. I've been fortunate enough to not have experienced that.

...Idea: would a unicorn in sleep paralysis still be able to use magic?

I've never had anything in the room with me while I had sleep paralysis but I've had that wihout sleep paralysis. Worst case was having to perform an exorcism on my hand while it was strangling me. In any case both things are bad enough by themselves.

What, a game of chess with death? I can immagine it not being fun if he doesn't really know how to play.

This is why it's merely unlikely rather than impossible. The Apple family are traditionally late bloomers. If Fluttershy is much older than Applejack (or even slightly older) it greatly increases the likelihood of other pony's being extremely late bloomers which in turn makes it very unlikely that all the Apples we know weren't in the same class as others who got their cutie marks later than them. It's the model mot likely to give the data we've ended up with.

As for Fluttershy dating Pony!Steve Irwin, that does fit which is amusing as one of the NP Cs in our Pony RPG is partially based on Steve Irwin (not heavily, but still).

I don't really believe in Fluttermac. Two shy and silent types usually makes for a lot of awkward silences. But shy mixed with boisterous is cute.

I had a really creepy case of disorientation/not being fully awake early this morning. I woke up and made a trip to the bathroom. My mind, however, was somehow typing out my thoughts and posting them in a chat room. It took a minute for me to snap out of it. When I did, I was like, "WTF just happened?"

Something like that happened to me on one of my finals this year. I was in the middle of writing a short answer, when my brain was transported to a scenario where I was playing a Nintendo DS game of some sort. I ended up sketching a circle where a word was supposed to be.
