I haven't seen it but my experience is that if it's simple or logical, fiction wil avoid it.

@Storyyeller:Just reading the trope page, it seems pretty clear. They didn't know the children were a threat at first, and they were birthed all over the world. If a bunch of weird kids with powers were born, do you really think it would have been everyone's universal first decision to kill them all?

Well actually, most of the occurences were immediately killed. I think the English one is the only one where they didn't immediately kill everyone.
