The concept of playing chess against death still baffles me.
It's DEATH!! How the hell do you outthink death?!

Remind me how the horse shaped ones move again
Are there any other
SC 2 sockpuppets here? The only one I've seen is
The Orz.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
I was always annoyed by the
Final Destination movies.
because they had the potential to ACTUALLY be interesting. Instead they ALWAYS succumb to Downer Endings and it's shown time and again that death is unbeatable. Compelling drama that does not make. Why should I care if there's no chance that any of the heroes will survive?
Maybe if they showed Death to actually be fallable then it'd work

That reminds me. I once had an idea for a game where you go through the underworld to bring someone back to life. The final boss is Death but instead of fighting, you have to beat him at chess. Except that since the computer is extremely good at chess, what you're supposed to do is secretly switch out the chess game for Connect Four, which is actually winnable.

Well they do make statements like "with Celestia as my witness, " which unless there's another Celestia somewhere, seems to imply divinity (or at least percieved divinity).
Although... it was Rarity saying that...
Pretty sure Fluttershy also said it in "Putting Your Hoof Down".
Kicked off the lectern at a worship song summit. My hymns all plummet 'cuz church ladies still can't hum it.
@mars The first one ended with the cycle of death starting over as a massive billboard swings down towards the mane character's friend as he asks "what's wrong?"

"Really, ponies, I'm not a goddess. I'm just an ordinary, immortal pony with the combined powers of unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies, plus complete control over the sun."

Didn't the first film have one surivor? It's been a while since I watched those films.
Also, I think that character died immediately into the second film. (I haven't actually seen any of them).

Well put.
Everything's been done. Everything has a meaning. However your life at best is to serve as a building block for others.
@mars I usually like them. I find it really hard to like something if I can't stand the mane character. They're just never my favourite characters

Two more days until news dump time. I have a theory that Hasbro might make a gut-busting announcement at Bronycon.
Bronycon is in two days?

Kidding aside, I like to imagine that FIM is set in an AU of the Greek mythology 'verse. Discord killed the original Greek pantheon, then Celestia and Luna deposed him.

the only logical assumption:
Celestia&Luna > The ENTIRE Greek Pantheon

They're basically gore shows. My friend who likes them admitted he only goes to see them to see how the deaths can get more over the top. Doesn't give two kicks about the plot at all, or anything.

Perhaps if the Greek pantheon fought Discord as a team, they would have defeated him. But no, Discord exploited their flaws to turn the gods and goddesses against each other. So he only ever had to fight one or two of them at a timeāand several of them he didn't even kill directly himself.
I should see The Seventh Seal.
Yeah, it's quite good. You know what else is good?
This music video
, which is a tribute to
The Seventh Seal.
Hmmm... does Luna escort dead pony souls to the afterlife, or does somepony else have that job?
