@kegisak Well, I recall you previously voicing your disinterest in Madoka, so, eh.

So, I got a question. How come whenever one or two episodes of mlp fim, just one or two episodes portray a charector badly, the fandom tends to hate that charector? I've seen it happen on this thread before too {Not that much anymore, though}.

I mean, we got "Sonic Rainboom" for Rarity, "A Friend In Deed" for Pinkie, the Mare-do-well episode for, well, anypony depending on how you view it, "May the best pet win" for RD {Not in my case though}, and "MM Mystery on the Friendship Express" for the pony's involved in the "Murder" of the cake. People seem to just paint them in a negative light just because of a couple episodes, forgettting entirely about the good quality's the charectors have {This is especially annoying with RD and Rarity, since their two of my favorite charectors}.

Seriously, I don't get it.-_-

Those episodes don't make me think less of Pinkie or Rarity, since I already think poorly of them. And with the others I can just see their good qualities anyway.

@ginger: Huh. Then okay, in this case I'm inclined to agree with you. A character like that should be used very, VERY sparingly.

@Crow: Thing is I MIGHT be willing to give it a shot, but I've never had a taste for the pointlessly dark. If someone can tell me it has a point beyond just putting little girls through shit I might try it.

@ Kegisak: Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. It has some fanservice, but is still awesome. Best depiction of Power Armor I've seen this side of Starship Troopers and trumps everything else I've ever seen in escalation of conflict.

Also, Princess Tutu. Best example of the art of Storytelling I've ever seen. And very girly.

Seirei No Moribito has a strong female lead who isn't used as fanservice in any capacity. And while they're few and far between, it has some of the coolest fights I've ever seen in anime. They really knew how to balance awesomeness with understatement.

@Stamina TTGL ruined my life.

I'm not kidding. I've been growing more and more miserable and unable to enjoy things ever since I saw that anime.

At the risk of settin' Ginger off (hi Ginger!), if Gurren ruins your life you're doin' it wwrong. =)

Aside from that, I don't really havve many recommendations. Sora No Woto is a beautiful showw, but it's one a those slice a life/introspectivve ones.

@Marston - I don't know why that happens, but it strikes me as just backwards thinking.

Pinkie's case is a little different though. She was on a downhill slide ever since Season 2 began, and "A Friend in Deed" just highlights it.

@ Ginger: Not really. It's got a few one-shot villains that are pretty cool, but the main threats throughout the story can't really be classified as villains, just antagonists. It is really cool though.

@Marston: A Friend in Deed made me think more highly of Pinkie. It's not obvious due to Ginger, but I don't have a high opinion of her compared to most ponies.

Sonic Rainboom didn't make me think less of Rarity. I considered her actions in that episode within my expectations. Same with everypony in MMDW and Rainbow Dash in May the Best Pet Win. I mean, I've been a bit annoyed by some of their actions, but I'm a pretty forgiving person.

EDIT: I'm pretty opposite to Moe in terms of my views on Pinkie's development. For example, I considered hr behaviour in Luna Eclipsed to be entirely normal.

@Ginger: there's two different ones, one to each season. The first one is Jake Sully(I think that's his name, anyways), who's your standard supervillain. He's the leader of a terrorist organization of supers, and the murderer of one of the main character's parents. He's absurdly powerful, handily defeating pretty much all of the supporting cast, who are professional superheroes(And BETTER at it than the main characters). He kicks the ass of one of the main characters, and only gets beaten through a semi-cheap trick and teamwork.

The second villain is one of the main character's caretakers, who manipulated him into becoming a tool for his ambitions. He's only beaten because of something he couldn't have understood he was doing, and was mostly bad luck on his part.

@Red I just found him annoying. Mind crushingly obnoxious. Like Pinkie times 100. Especially in episode... 5, was it? The one with the village underground that routinely sends a villager topside to control their population or something

How does A Friend In Deed make Pinkie look better?
