I have to second Keg's recommendations, both shows are absolutely fantastic.
I also want to recommend Niea_7. It's a nice slice of life comedy with a bit of slapstick that also doubles as a character study. It was done by the crew who handled Serial Experiments Lain as a bit of alight-hearted break.

Eh, that's what you get when you pull a single plot out of the middle of a series, I guess. Vino might have been more developed in the original novels.
