I watched 'Now and Then, Here and There' once. All 13 episodes in one sitting. It was...

I don''t know, not really as depressing as I was expecting, and KIND of interesting, but it did inspire this sort of lethargy in me. Like I enjoyed watching it but it was still hard for me to play the next episodes, and after it was done I just sat around for a while, not really thinking of anything.

[up][up] That's same as it was for me, except I went into it not knowing it was supposed to be "the most depressing thing of all time." It actually left me feeling almost exactly the same as I did after watching The Iron Giant.

@kegi Ugh, I hate stuff like that. I'm like, what's the point?

I'm actually considering asking for anime reccomendations (since it's one of the only things I have nothing on the backburner for)... but I know how those discussions always go -_-

This game is much more fun than it should be. And I could listen to the music all day.

@Ginger:Well for me, Code Geass was probably one of the most depressing things I ever watched, and I loved it. I enjoy it when a show provokes emotion in me, any kind of emotion. The good thing about a depressing show (for me anyway) is that as soon as I'm done watching it I can just revert back to normal because it's just a show, it has no reason to depress me for real.

[up] I don't know anything I would recommend for you anyway... aren't you watching Oban?

The "thing you your left is now a cutie mark" thing tends to be dumb with me, because it's a wall.

Well, some would argue that Now and Then, Here and There didn't have a point; that it was merely an excercise in crafting emotion. Which from an artistic standpoint is valid, but not much for the reader.

On the other hand, I think it actually DID have a message. I didn't find that things were quite so black and white as I'd heard they were supposed to be. I saw rather distinct shades of gray in as lot of the characters, and I could empathize with them.

I think the point of it was to show that just because someone does a bad thing, doesn't make them a bad person. The situation you're in can shape how you act out of necessity, and even a truly good person can do abhorrent things. Sometimes a flase promise can even turn them into a bad person by constantly breaking them down.

It also shows that it doesn't have to be that way. For everything bleak that happens in it, Now and Then, Here and There is firmly idealistic. It's easy to get broken down and become a cruel person, or do evil things, but if you stand firm you can make things better.

@ Ginger: Is Transformers an Anime? It uses footage from an Anime. I recommend that.

@ Pannic: You are my wall brother.

[up][up]Depends on how close to home it hits for you. It's the only thing so far I've seen that plays suicide attempts for both comedy and drama at the same time, and it pulls it off spectacularly.

Welcome to the NHK is a hilariously dark comedy criticizing Japan's niche cultures as well as its social system and the lack of support it offers to individuals who need assistance and how it marginalizes the people on the fringes of society and perpetuates their situations. Of course, almost all of the characters are incredibly damaged, fairly awful people.

[up][up][up]I can't be too sure since I've never read it, but I've been told that the villains in the Trigun manga are alot better then they are in the anime.

Having a big mug of Ginger tea to help relax. I don't know why, but even on my day off, it's been hard to relax completely.

[up][up]It was really the expression on the mask the actor wears in the final shot, it's just kind of off. Mostly due to exaggeration, I guess.
