I gave up on sleep a long time ago

In the ensuing time since I declared that, I'm pretty sure I've gone insane. I can't even be sure if you're all here right now waii I could just be chatting to myself.

Can you be insane if you know you're insane?

@ginger: Yes. Most medicated schizophrenics are well aware that what they hear/see/experience isn't there, but off the medication it comes anyways.

Fun fact: the vast majority of the homeless have some sort of mental illness that makes it very difficult for them to interact with other people. A lot of them simply drop out of society because it's easier for them to handle that way.

Makes you wonder why they don't just ignore what they see if they know it isn't there.

Because you frequently have no way of knowing what's real and what isn't. And just because you are aware of a problem doesn't mean you can fight it. See: depression.

Generally speaking because it can be really, really hard.

My dad described what it's like to hallucinate to me(He has an allergy that causes him to vividly hallucinate if he takes certain kinds of cold medication). Effectively, everything you see is real to all of your senses. And the hallucinations can get intense. Like, you're sitting on the couch flying to mars intense. Or the person you're talking to is a giraffe intense. Yes, you know it isn't real - though in some cases your mind will do everything it can to fool you into thinking it is - but it's still incredibly distracting. You can brute force it, but in your head you will always be screaming "you are a giraffe! Stop being a giraffe!"

Imagine after a while it would get very, very grating. And of course there is medication, but many of them have side effects that dull the senses and slow the mind, which isn't good either.

About that one episode "The Mysterious Mare Do Well", I didn't have a problem with it.

I had to look in the Headscratchers section to find out what was it about the episode that was rubbing them the wrong way. Personally, I thought it was cool seeing some superhero-type action in My Little Pony. I got the impression that Rainbow Dash's need for attention was being given a Deconstruction. Also, it was interesting how RD was operating under the assumption that Talking Is a Free Action...only to find out it isn't!

She really needed to take her showboating down a notch, and her friends were just the mares to help her with that! evil grin[lol]

Kegisak, that sounds exactly like what happens when you overdose on Benadryl... which I recommend everyone here to NEVER EVER DO (it is not pleasant).

@tigger I enjoy the superhero antic as much as anyone, but the Mane 6 were extremely out of line. All of a sudden, they're bothered by RD's ego, despite the fact that she's been a pretty flat character based entirely on ego for most of the series. And the scene where they rub Mare Do Well's antics in RD's face is ridiculously over the top.

I believe his allergy is to Codine. He literally cannot have any of it, or he hallucinates violently. As in, his couch takes off and flies to mars. This is an actual example he's given me.

He has made no bones about the fact that it was not a fun experience for him.

And her so called friends go straight into the crush Rainbow's ego through deceit phase rather than talking to her.

@Blue For Season 1, she seemed to have 3 character traits (at least to me): rash decisions, ego, and loyalty. Maybe you see something different, and in Season 2 she did change. But up until Mare Do Well she had those traits.

Speaking of weird things you can't believe are real, Scoots just told me about something so weird I had to check it out.

And its true: A mixed martial-arts tournament is being held in Ponyville.

To enter, all you have to do is fill out a form with your name and what martial art you practice. Seems lax... Rainbow Dash has already entered, signing that she practices "Dash-Fu." I guess I could say I practice "Surprise-kwan-do."

Whatcha think, should I do it? Should I enter?
