Eh, while they're certainly somewhat insectiod, I don't really care for them being outright insects altogether. I prefer keeping them more similar to the Fae they're based on. Of course, it's all headcanon and preferences, so no point in arguing.
The name Chrysalis is one of the big things that implies insects to me. Out of curiosity are there any other things that use chrysalises?

Chrysalis doesn't seem to have the figure to suggest she lays a lot of eggs,
They're really
small eggs. And once they hatch changelings grow
really fast.
You can keep a small militia fed throughout winter if you capture a changeling nest.

To me, "Chrysalis" more implies metamorphosis and transformations, which fits changelings rather well. To each their own, though.
