@ginger It's a puzzle climber in the Shin Megami universe.
It's also freaking hard!

Nicknames are pointless if the character's name is really short.
Not if you can't remember the name at all. Hey, it's better than Toph Person.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

@Chada and the story?
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel

You somehow have enough time to actually read this thread in it's entirety.
And hence why I have no time.

Well, I wouldn't say it's hard so much as it is cheap at some points, especially on a first run through. But some stuff, such as the arcade minigame and the babel stages are ludicruously difficult. It has some dating sim features too, but not much.
The story is pretty good. It definitely has some creepy moments, and some very funny moments, but the story is fairly Persona-like.

I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with me.
I find really weird things sad, and I get attached to really minor characters sometimes and care more about them than the main characters

Catherine has some great minor characters. Such as Ronald Mc Donald and Colonel Sanders. Some games/stories have a tendency to do that, its not weird.

And then John was the demons.
Actually, there are villains in Catherine, and personally I thought they were interesting. Given the nature of Catherine, it'd be spoilerly to talk about them. The game focuses more on Vincent and his development though.
@ginger
Dude's been a relationship with a girl named Kathrine for several years. He's doing the whole not sure he wants to be married, but they're in their earlier thirties at this point.
One day a twenty-something year old girl of his dreams meets him in his favorite bar. Next morning he finds out he's somehow slept with her.
Now he's constantly getting sent into this dream world where if he dies, he bites the bullet in reality.
He then has to survive his nightmares while trying to balance his wreck of a life.

Of course they are. Why wouldn't they be?

So that's where its from. Never played Homestuck :3
Well, technically he has the dreams the night before his girlfriend starts dropping hints/affair begins, but that's besides the point.

How does he know that he'll die in reality if it hasn't happened yet?
You'd kinda need to test to see if that's true... and you can see the problem with that

You read it, silly
I have a message from another time...

Another sheep who acts as a temporary guide says so when he meets him. Also, there's the string of deaths of 30-ish year old men in their beds who seemed perfectly healthy otherwise (with rectangular sheep eyes), though the protagonist doesn't really remember details about the nightmares when he is awake. He and most of his friends don't really put two and two together during the day.
Read, play, watch, tis all the same!
