I think De Lancie has stated in interviews that he was totally caught off guard when he started getting messages from people about a role he did for a cartoon several months prior and promptly forgot about.
That isn't feasible. It only works once and will only get you a minute of time.

@ginger: Creating life tends to be treated as being on one of the highest power tiers, around or above reality warping, so I wouldn't necessarily expect Discord to be capable of it. Unless he can whip up some mindless drones or something.

He could probably create an army by corrupting entire population centres. He did it to Ponyville. There's no reason to believe he couldn't mind control them to obey him

@Ginger: I tend to think of creating independent life as the ultimate expression of power. I don't see how someone like that could possibly be defeated.
