If only Spike didn't mention that they were gray. Then the Idiot Ball wouldn't exist.

I found Big Macintosh, stoic and quiet Big Macintosh, acting like a dog and licking Twilight amusing.

Seeing it through Shipping Goggles makes it even more amusing.

The only thing that disappointed me was the music being interrupted by a commercial.

I like Dogintosh because he's normally one of the smarter, hardworking ponies.

I think Fluttershy isn't so much weak as unmotivated and inhibited. Flutterjerk was... nasty, especially considering she kept her soft voice.

I really loved how Twilight lost patience with the idiots and just went on to kick their asses (Which apparently isn't such a big deal to fillies as it is to human girls... something human girls should take a page from, I think). I also loved how despite his utter confusion at what happened Spike remained entirely loyal to Twilight and defended her with all he got. Thus it makes sense that he could replace Dash.

Big Dogintosh is hilarious.

What made Big Mac like that anyway? We never see Discord get to him

Discord was probably off corrupting other ponies whenever he wasn't on screen.

For all we know, Big Macintosh's corruption was a Missed Moment of Funny (is that a trope?)

Why you are so against Adventure style ? Show work best with combination of adventure and slice of life, it need lite more balanced in that (more adventures).

I don't understand why you prefer sline of life so much. Adventure style can have same level of humor and characteristion or even. What slice of life style ep is better than those two last episodes and how they better?

It odd that you prefer Slice of Life and most of fan stuff is more adventure style.

I like them both. variety is always nice

Also, let it be known that when Rarity got a hold of herself I half-expected her to say "Dumb rock" again.

As for SoL vs. Adventure, I'm ambivalent. I'm ambivalent about a lot of things.

I wonder if Spike was uncorrupted because he was inside asleep. Or maybe because he's a dragon. Or maybe Discord doesn't go after children? THEORIES.

Overall, the episode was just okay. I'm glad we're out of the two-parter and will (hopefully) return to the Slice of Life episodes after the break.

That said, there are two comments I have to make:

1. Discord...well, he really comes across like an idiot Smug Snake in this one. You know, EXACTLY LIKE Q WAS. I'm not talking about the "All Good Things" Q people like to remember, I mean the "crappy first season" Q. Or the "got pimp smacked by Ben Sisko" Q. Or the "I'm so horny" Q from Voyager. For all his power, Q spent most of his appearances as a petulant manchild, tormenting the Enterprise simply because he was bored, and throwing a fit the few times he lost.

I actually thought Discord's defeat was in-character. He thought he had won. He thought the ponies were still broken after last time, or that he could just break them again. Perhaps he even thought they wouldn't be a problem since they weren't as powerful on their own as Celestia and Luna. In any case, his own arrogance left him wide open to taste the rainbow.

2. To all people complaining about Luna not appearing...why? What would she had contributed? Luna is mentioned in the first part, and the only way to defeat Discord is to use the Elements of Harmony, which neither Celestia or Luna can do anymore. The production team know she exists, they acknowledge she exists, and they've already said she would be back this season. Only two episodes have aired, both of which were produced during season one, and already you're screaming because Luna didn't show?

And even if she did, what Luna would they use? Playful Luna, shy Luna, vengeful Luna, evil Luna, you name it, it's been done. Fanon has gripped the character so tightly there's no way any writer or animator can do anything with her without setting up a Flame War of epic proportions. Personally, I'd prefer Luna have a more focused episode than getting shoved into an already overly-packed two-parter.

That said, I can't wait for the rest of the season. Hopefully we'll get some word on when the next episode will air soon.

I bet Luna spent the whole episode staring at the day and night with a WTF face.

Kinda off-topic, but I just had a minor fridge horror moment about the chocolate milk rain: Has anybody in this thread ever had the fridge go out on you when there was milk in it? Equestria is going to smell terrible if they don't get that cleaned up.

I don't think the fandom will complain when Luna reappears.

I kind of assumed that got cleaned up when they got Discord stoned again.
