Hey, so apparantly even my subconscious refuses to allow Scootaloo to have parents/a backstory.
Last night I had a pony dream, that kinda felt like a season-finale type episode, actually. Except that it posited RD
really heavily as the mane character.
Basically, RD had taken a trip to canterlot for some reason or another, and there wound up being a crises where these plant-like ponies/pony were infecting the town, trying to drag it down into the undergrowth and swallow it whole, sort of thing. At one point she wound up running into Scootaloo - it was actually sort of funny, because the dream kinda felt like I was watching the episode. So Scootaloo showed up in her house, and I immediately wondered if we were going to see her parents... Then she referred to the mare I thought was her mother as 'doctor', so that was a bust.
But the whole thing was pretty interesting, because Dash had a character arc in it and everything. Obviously her loyalty was never in question, but the thing about Loyalty is that it doesn't always lend itself well to "It's all up to you" situations. She spent a good deal of time not trying to shirk the whole thing, but to at least get help so it wasn't
all up to her. But the plant pony kept on blocking her from doing anything to get help. So in the end she sort of had to take responsibility for everything and everyone herself. It was kind of like a batter pulled off MMDW: When you're responsible for something, every success and failure is on your head. If people get hurt because you showboat, it's nobody's fault but yours, so if you have a responsibility, even one shoved onto you, you need to take it seriously and can't expect anybody else to help you out with it.
It... probably doesn't make much sense
now, but it did in the dream at least.
