Rainbow Dash was based more on G1 Firefly than her G3 lookalike.

Oh dear, I just restarted my laptop and now the display is off center with no clear way to fix it. I guess I'll be buying a new laptop when I get home.

They replaced the keyboard at this workstation... and now whenever I go to hit the F12 key Im always hitting plastic... stupid muscle memory...

@Psi: Yes, that also applies to Rainbow Dash and Applejack as well, thanks for pointing that out. While G3 Pinkie also was in charge of parties, at least in the Core 7 stories, she was also more of the sensible leader-type and often played a Straight Man role to Minty's goofy antics. Rarity is also rather different from her G3 counterpart as well, since Rarity in G3 was a ditzy princess who liked to goof off and had difficulty paying attention to what others were telling her. Rarity in G4 is a generally mature fashion designer who rarely has trouble concentrating, although she has her moments of distraction as well, although those are still usually related to her general goals and interests (like her attraction to shiny jewels or how she was going to the events in Canterlot rather than working on Twilight's dress in Sweet and Elite).

I suppose Twilight is the only one who isn't noticeably different in personality from the older pony who she shares a name with, of the Mane Six at least.

And yes, I know that G4 Rainbow Dash's personality was based off of Firefly's, not G3 Rainbow Dash, but it's still interesting to note the personality differences between the current cast and their older namesakes.
