I dont think his leperosy carries on into the world he's sent into? I only got so far into the book... I think its just to set him up as a miserable bastard in the beginning of the story.

At Japaneese This Day - It's pretty cool, but it's a shame there isn't a German one.

While he's in the Land his leprosy ITSELF, isn't a big deal to anyone but him, but he pretty much defines himself by it and by the rutine and defenses he needs to stay alive with it, at least in the first series, by the end of it he gets over that and it's never really brought up other then exposition.

it's not flesh fallin off rotting level leprosy, he's still early, and his biggest fear and drive is to prevent himself from ever getting to that point. is only symptoms of the desases itself is he has no feeling in his hands and feet, and he lost two fingers on his right hand to an infection.

@Ginger The magic of The Land cures his leprosy early in the first book, which convinces him that The Land isn't real, because he's lived with it for too long to ever accept that he could possibly be cured. It also makes up a huge part of his self-loathing, as he's come to believe all of the people that think he's "unclean" over the years.

I could never stand Wheel of Time. Aside from all sorts of other problems, Robert Jordan drags things out WAY too much.

It's two-hundred pages TWO HUNDRED PAGES before the heroes even leave their hometown! I mean holy shit, Ian Fleming tells entire stories in two-hundred pages. In two-hundred pages, Bilbo Baggins was already at Laketown! and yet Robert Jordan...

I think his leprosy is healed in The Land but he still keeps on the mindset that it brought on.

ok, and again Lord Foul is amazing, the ONLY thing that lets Thomas stand a chance is he just to fucking stubborn to give in. it's not heroism, it's not power, it's not some higher virtue that let's him stand a chance, just pure ornery contrariness.

I thought of something ironic about Fluttershy and the G3 pony who shares her name. Fluttershy in G3 is supposed to be a photographer pony, so far as I know about her, her name being a play on the term "shutterfly." Skip ahead to G4, and Fluttershy is the one on the other side of the camera and she HATES the attention of being in all those model photo shoots.

and yeah he's convinced that The Land is a delusion he's having and if he lets himself believe it's real then once he wakes up he'll end up killing himself though neglect and letting the disease consume him. hence his self claimed title "the Unbeliever"

The people of The Land think he's a chosen one or something but like Seraphem said.. he only suceeds cuz he's got this mindset about how he's going to just keep plugging along reguardless of what others thinkl... he's a stubborn jerk

@Rainbow: Most of the ponies seem to have contrasting traits of their previous counterparts. G3 Rainbow Dash was more feminine while G1 Applejack was a 'silly pony'. Almost comes off as a Mythology Gag in places.
