Something is very, very wrong here.

Ehhh I got bored with Pink Eyes about halfway through.

so, another episode. Baby Cakes.

Finally, another good look at that nurse joy pony!

Oh hey, genetics/ancestry is sorta kinda brought up.

Oh dear, they would have to hold a dirty diaper in their mouth, wouldn't they?

now how can they name him Poundcake and tell him not to pound things?

and twilight is buried in bureaucracy again. Probably self inflicted.

not a caterpillar swarm!

Now, why would the Cakes only try asking the mane 6(aside from them being the mane 6)? Surely there's some more qualified ponies in ponyville?

aannddd...crying on cue. Standard cartoon babies, I see!

huh, seems like Pinkie has a little Tigger in her.

Finding it amusing when Things don't go as planned? Refusing to eat food? Yep, standard cartoon babies.

"You gotta be kidding me!" I agree pinkie, they are going all out with cartoon babysitting tropes.

and we see pinkies rare stubborn side.

ok, they really are starting to go a bit too far with the beleaguered babysitter thing.

No sir, I didn't like it. I've never been a fan of the Badly Battered Babysitter trope, and this episode went more than a bit too far to batter pinkie as much as possible.
XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!

@ Lurker, quadrology...i've read the first book, it starts off good. Need to get the later ones.

@ Chad i ask becuase it is ALL ABOUT Despair, the Big Bad's MO and goal is to push every single person in the world past there own personal Despair Event Horizon

and it's not really a Decon of fantasy itself, a differnt take yeah, not a decon, it is however one of the greatest decons of The Chosen One ever

@Bliss Given my feelings towards Pinkie, that torment she goes through was the most appealing thing about that ep for me [lol]

@Ginger Yeah, you wouldn't like it. The villain is great, but the protagonist is an absolutely horrible person meant to more or less deconstruct The Chosen One. He develops out of it by the end of the first trilogy, but he's still a cynical, self-hating bastard in the end.

@Ginger The hero is as close to a Villain Protagonist as you can get without being outright villainous, and is the very definition of a Designated Hero. I thought you didn't like those kinds of characters?

Actually... I think Ginger WOULD like Thomas Covenant... because the protagonist is so loathesome and imperfect...

Ginger, you might like it, main character is a massive jerk, he really REALLY sucks at anything except keeping his own ass alive, doesn't really do anything on his own..he is a straight up Deconstruction of The Chosen One

and the villain, holt buck you should love Lord Foul.

I thought only Chrys was playing with her avatar.

Well she fooled me this time. I wouldn't have noticed if people hadn't started mentioning her.

@Ginger The main character of Thomas Covenant is a Leper... and his life is ruined by the fact, so he basically decides to hate the world and everything in it. Somehow he ends up in another world and it goes on from there...

Then go for it! The books are long-ish, and the complete arcs are told in sets of 3-4 books, so you might not be able to find the time, but don't let it stop you. They're definitely YMMV, though.

literally EVERYTHING the heroes manage to accomplish, even if it gives him a temporary set back, only makes another longer term plan easier, he does nothing BUT Xanatos Gambit's, EVERYTHING either is according to his plan, or can be fit into one quickly.

Through the power of google I'm saying that's from that crappy Titanic movie.

Ha, I knew it without having to resort to Google.
