@ginger: Yeah, but it's not about him being smart, it's about him being smarter than CRIME ITSELF!

Smart heroes who fight evil with the power of their mind give me hope that I may one day be a badass.

@Dren: I like Hammet, too. Also, Raymond Chandler.

Well whatever, here's the question for anyone who happens to be a fan of this particular popular website: What is the appeal in That guy with the glasses? I watched quite a bit of reviewers on that site, and the only ones I actually liked are Cinema Snob and Chad Rocco, though Nostalgia Critic is a hit-or-miss rate with me. Everyone else who's videos I try'd to watch was either Mediocre or really annoying and unfunny. And Kickassia? What a piece of crap. I couldn't even get through the whole thing. The sequel was decent at least, though.

I was actually gonna give Spoony a try, but then I heard that he's an ignorent brony-hater and decided that it would be a waste of my time. No offense to any fans of the site though, honestly.

@con well, I happen to like seeing his opponents be smart too

Watching something just to watch the hero be smart bores me

I don't want to read a story about him being smart

Trust noone. It's a shame you aren't takign books anymore because the villian in Interesting Times is also pretty cool.

I like The Nostalgia Chick way better. I like her analysis more than the funny parts. I agree that he's kinda hit-or-miss, but he can be really funny sometimes.

And Brad Jones is pretty funny, but I'm afraid to watch most of his videos because they're about porn.

@turtle: I've never seen any of those, but my aunt loves em.

@Con: Chandler and Hammett are two of my favorite authors though I've also developed a fondness for G.K. Chesterton's Father Brown stories.

@mars

Well, I like them because I love the comraderie they have with each other waii

I watch them, not because I think they're funny, but because I think they know their stuff and seem like awesome people. I watch to be informed as well.

YMMV, they all have some flubs a vids that didn't go so good.

Kickassia wroks so much better if you arelady know the site, the poeple and the memes, and Spoony has just been really really going down hill last few months, but due to personal issues...his health's been deteriorating, he's developed a serious heart condition..or had his existing one get worse, his girlfrined of years left him..yeah he's had a rough year and it shows.

yeah he could really use the magic of FIM.

@Dren: Been meaning to start reading Chesterton. Now that It's almost summer, I'll prolly get a chance.

@Chad: Oh, how could I forget Linkara? Frank Miller deserves it! Love comics...

Not to turn this thread into a TGWTG bashing thread, I couldn't get into it either, Marston. I think partially because I had a friend who always raved about it and forced me to watch some of the videos. And even the videos I went out and watched on my own just felt awkwardly paced and unfunny. You're not alone.
Admittedly about fifty percent enlightenmentCaveman too.

Mars: I'm glad that there's someone else out there who is baffled by the appeal of TGWTG. I mean Brows Held High is sometimes amusing, but I'm not really a fan of much of anything else from there,
