I always considered RD's rainbows more magical in nature. Like energy
Rainbow Factory!Rainbows are liquid though... so what're they painted onto? (in H&H Day, Scoots hoovered up a rainbow, there was some kind of Black and white frame underneath the colour)

@Applelight: Sure, I don't see why not.
I always assumed how the varies tribes could get together to do something spectacular (Pegasi create massive tempst, unicorns move the sun and moon) if you got enough Earth Ponies together they could literally move mountains.
