Oh yeah, and the Queen rips apart humongous pieces of the scenery with every line she says in certain scenes

@storyeller: Given how some other franchises have went with romance added, I can see her point very well.

My main critism with Griffon The Brush Off was how one note nasty they made Gilda just to make the Aesop work. Her being aloof or possessive of RD worked and even having a nasty attitude to every one else, but it didn't really make sense for her to be Kicking Dogs all over the place and then still willingly come to her new worst enemy's party.

I suspect that much of the point of ep. 5 was that at least some of the characters can't really handle it yet.

Watched Suited for Success. Well this was the most musical episode yet! And Pinkie only had a few sung lines? What is this!? Really though, this is much better music than one would expect from a children's show. Part of why its so popular, I guess.

More seriously, this is the first episode where I fell they kinda botched the Aesop. They were going for a Can't Please Everyone thing, but instead of going for a single dress that gets compromised to hell between all 5 ponies that none of them end up liking(what they shoulda done imo), Rarity did in fact very much please all her friends!

I think it's because her making a different dress for each of them was kind of the point from the beginning. And I think it was more of a "sometimes, you have to trust your own instincts (or the good judgment of others)" thing.

@psi I swear that the Gilda we see around RD is completely different to the Gilda we ee in the Kick the Dog conga line. I think you're right in that regard

Heh, yeah.

I guess that's one reason Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are such good friends. Instead of babying Fluttershy, RD encourages her to do the kind of stuff she can already physically do, if she could just get past her mental blocks.

For me she is as same.

RD kinda works as a friend for Fluttershy as they can better each other in ways others can't. RD is more likely to be brutally honest and tough with Fluttershy so may be more effective toughing her up (even if still getting lessons about taking it too rough) while Fluttershy is sweet natured enough to have patience (usually) with her and try to improve her behavior rather than more assertive Straight Mares that tend to butt heads with her constantly *cough* Applejack *cough*. Also as shown in Hurricane Fluttershy, she can make a great Morality Pet for RD.

I think the fashion show was one the funniest parts of Season One. All their 'WTF were we thinking?' reactions were hilarious.

• Twilight: *looks at dress* Oh dear.
• RD: Do you think we overdid it?
• AJ: Nah *looks at dress* Mmmaybe a little...

From what I heard Rarity actually had a Scrappy status before this episode. I can see this as a defining moment of her kind aspects and such, but I didn't think she was anywhere near that bad before.
