Those "most beautiful" lists don't really mean that much. Just look at No. 69 on Maxim's Hottest Women list.

Velvet's cutie mark is a Nightengale... Florence Nightengale was a famous nurse, or the Nightengale can be considered a bird with a beautiful song.

She could have gone either way I think but she was shoved into the singing thing because the Overmare needed a morale booster. She was singing to a sick patient when she got her cutie mark so it could have been related to the singing or making the patient feel better with her song.

In my headcanon FOE is alternate uni and always was. With different rules about magic and C Ms.

Except for the fact that Red Eyehimself spoke out against cutie marks and turned his back on them (including his own by branding it off)

Its a reference that is made for us, Im quite sure that the author wanted people to think of Florence Nightengale when Velvet's cutie mark was described. Sure it doesnt make sense for the in universe pony but it makes sense to the reader.

Still doesn't explain the forcefield.

Y'know, I find it a bit weird that Velvet's been out for longer than Littlepip, but she's less able to cope with THE HORROR OF THE WASTELAND. I mean, sure, I guess maybe she got along better because she grouped up with the slavers or something, but...

She was only out there a few hours longer, a day tops. And obviously managed to avoid the raider camp in Ponyville.

I dunno.. I found it hard to believe that Velvet wasnt raped and eaten by raiders within hours of leaving the vault. Unless she had someone waiting to help her on the outside when she got out?

watched dragonshy, am I the only one who, upon seeing the mountain with the smoke coming off of it, immediately thought of Jack and the Farting Dragon? I swear they had some inspiration from that.

Other than that, episode went exactly how I thought it would from the start. Except the small bit of the dragon full on crying, I was expecting a sheepish, below the breath "I'm sorry...".

It's interesting, I never know how much to expect from this show. Sometimes it catches me off guard, and that's neat, but other times it seems really formulaic and I'm reminded that it is a children's show. But, I'm only a couple of episodes in, I'm sure that will change.

I said "pretty cool." Steelhooves is still infinitely better.

Dragonshy is best from a character interaction and action perspective rather than a plot perspective.
