I'll be honest, while Kubrick sounds like a huge asshole, that whole tricking the cast with fake takes thing is hilarious and awesome.

@Purple The second someone starts HURTING people in order to achieve their goals when it could've been avoided altogether, then that's just crossing the line.

They all gave shakesperian quality takes. They'd become a part of the movie to win awards and be taken seriously. And Kubrick didn't care. He didn't treat them like people

Oh yeah, and Kubrick also changed the ending of A Clockwork Orange. Missing out the entire POINT of the book

I thought King's TV miniseries adaption of The Shining was about 2 1/2 hours too long.

@ginger: Really? I read about the original ending after seeing the movie and it sounded terrible. It seemed to imply that being a psychopathic rapist was just a phase that teenagers go through and grow out of. If that was the whole point of the book then fuck that book.

The only Stephen King stuff I have any familiarity with is The Shawshank Redemption and Stand by Me. So yeah. Just those two movie adaptations.
