It would sound interesting to me if one of the mane six want to pursue a revenge, and the others teach her how to cope with that bad feelings. Otherwise it would be like many other cartoons.

There are just so many things you can do with a villain song. You can have something that's very stylish and doesn't even sound like a villain song (Razzle Dazzle, Wonderful), a character delivering a Motive Rant (Wonderful again, Cellblock Tango), a creepy love song (Unworthy Of Your Love), a tormented mental breakdown (Epiphany, Hellfire), or something that's just plain scary (Epiphany, the Judge's Johanna).

There's just so much variety. And they tend to be big, flashy, dramatic, and catchy as hell.

@Mio: All the popularity polls I've seen lately have Scoots in the lead. Granted, not by a whole lot, the CMC seem to be pretty even popularity wise, but Scoots tends to be ahead by at least a few percent.

Well he did have that reprise of Prince Ali, but that doesn't really count. There was a song recorded that didn't get included in the movie because it was too mean spirited or something.

I loved the reprise of Prince Ali because it ends with probably the greatest evil laugh I've ever heard

That was neat.

Overall I didn't like The Lion King. The songs annoyed me. Alen Menken is way better at doing musicals than Elton John.

Well, that one wasn't annoying, so okay, I guess. But seriously, I hated "Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Hakuna Matatta" or however the hell you spell that.

Elton John did another Disney musical, albeit it was a stage show and not a movie. Aida. After the Verdi opera. Really, I don't get why anyone thought that was a good idea.
