I have sometimes similar feelings. Pony treads are only one what I read and post in regulary (even if I have more insterests). I trying to remeber what nicks from this tread I saw when I was in YKTTW.

Exactly. I'm not sure if Discord is aware of the true nature of the vision though. I mean he summoned it after all.

@Kyun: "North American Definition"? You mean the defenition everyone other than Japan uses? Well, I'd say it's about as animesque as the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory (<3) and Avatar the last airbender. It doesn't show as much because it really isn't all that actiony, it doesn't use trademark elements such as Face Fault, and the animation is very original. You could easily say that MLP is really doing its own thing, if not spawning an entire new style of animation.

As an antagonistic force, the Diamond dogs were actually a lot more competent than we give them credit for. They completely DECIMATED the Mane cast and successfully kept them away from Rarity for a long time. It's just their reliance on Rarity that lead them to failure. If they just let her go once she started to get annoying, they would've gotten off scott free,

It's sort of a shame that the creators have been jumping up the Sorting Algorithm of Evil this fast. There's no way the next Big Bad can have much more power than Discord. The guy's already a Reality Warper on what we can assume is a global scale, plus, the resident Big Good (who casually moves the Sun everyday) doesn't stand a chance against him, plus he was the previous ruler of Equestria. Unless we start to reel in the scope of these Big Bad's, we're gonna have to resort to Elderitch Abominations soon

Maybe they're just trying to set up an overall big bad - someone who will repeatedly come back. I'm still not willing to discount the possibility that the mane six are actually going to lose, and he'll just bugger off somewhere for a while, then come back at a later date for another game.

I was going to say "plausible", but my brain sort of had a bluescreen there. Then I laughed on the inside.

The guy's too unpredictable/powerful for the creators to just let him win. He's gonna need to be nerfed seriously if he's ever going to work as a reccuring Big Bad.

You guys move fast, eh? Not as fast as OOTS pony thread though. I just got an account over there and crap, they post quickly.

Anyways, some people were hating on Discord because they didn't think silly, stupid villains should be more dangerous then sinister ones? That's ok, I suppose. Discord is actually a lot less silly then the leaked footage painted him as. He's actually rather sinister at times.

As for his powers? I don't think he's an illusionist, I think he's near omnipotent. He's the closest thing MLP:FIM has to an actual deity, as opposed to Celestia and Luna.(I'm pretty sure those two didn't create morning and night, either. I think they just regulate it.)

That's the problem I have with him. He's omnipotent... where do you go from there? What kind of villain can they introduce that even comes close to his level?

You can't get any stronger. You can only make them more interesting. He does have a weakness, though. You could have someone more dangerous then him by making them just all around competent, with no clear avenue of defeat.

He has weaknesses? it seems he can kill them at anytime if you ask me

he won't, but he's definitely an overwhelming force. Everything he's been doing, he's been doing because he WANTS to, not because he has any obligation to in order to achieve his goals

Well, weakness. The elements of harmony. I have a feeling he'll go down easy, though. Don't know why; I just feel like there won't be much of a struggle at the end.

I'm interested in seeing if he actually is going to rule Equestria, or if he's just going to teleport around, becoming the equivalent of the boogey man, or the monster under the bed, or something.

Ah, but that is his weakness. He's a hedonist. He does things for fun. If it isn't fun, he's not going to do it. That makes him predictable, and gives them an ace up their sleeve... just as long as he doesn't get too mad.

Well actually, what I meant was that he's in complete control of EVERYTHING!! He's already won. He has the elements, he can choose whether to play for them fairly or not, and I don't for one second believe that the elements were actually in the hedge maze. The only sources of hope we have regarding the mane cast winning or not have been orchestrated by him, and even then the hedge maze scenario was a hopeless one, because even if they didn't succumb to his tricks, he could casually defeat them with a touch. He is literally unstoppable, because he's set things up so that he'll instantly break his game face and beat them the split-second things start to become boring.

He only plays games he knows he's going to win
