Anyway, the other thing is that FPK is what made Pinkie Pie no longer my favorite. I think she works better when her antics aren't the entire episode.

Funny you should say that, because aside from FPK her focus episodes are usually among my favourites.

Next to Rarity's focus episodes because... well, Tabitha St. Germaine. Come on, you can't content with that level of hamming.

I don't get the hatred for FPK's moral. If something happens and you can't explain it what's wrong with saying that it happens as opposed to saying well we can't explain it so it must not have happened.

@Story: He was never a big fan of the episodes slap-stick humor and neither have I for that matter. Just different taste in humor that's all.

@Bad: My issue with it is that rather than saying 'we can't explain this now', it seems to say 'we can't ever explain this, so we may as well not even try'. That and it seems to draw a distinct line between science/rationalism and romanticism, which frankly just doesn't exist.

I read it as more "If you try to understand something and fail, it doesn't mean that you get to disregard it". The issue wasn't that Twilight was analyzing the Pinkie Sense, it's that she stubbornly decided "if I can't understand this, it isn't real". I didn't think it ever really implied that she should stop analyzing it, just that once she excepted that it existed she stopped caring about the analysis because the only reason she was doing it in the first place was to disprove it.

That's because when FPK was first released people though it was a Science Versus Religion issue. Which caused a whole nother shitstorm on its own.

@Purple: Which is addressed in the episode. Twilight's magic is consistent, measurable and controllable, so she treats it as science(even if the source is unknown to us).
