Though I still say it's because Promontory is hot and needs to appear again. Though a proper steam engine did give us engineer fluttershy, so there's that.

Pinkiedash, Flutterpie, Twishy, Twidash, Twipie, Lyra/Bonbon, Vinyl Scratch/Octavia, Rarijack and Appletwi are best pairings. And yes, I know that most of those pairings contradict eatchother.

Shipping? Okay:

Rarity uses Priority, definitely.
Twilight opts for Media Mail unless she really wants something
Rainbow Dash only shops brick n' mortar and never orders by mail.
Applejack = same as Dash
Pinkie = again, same
Fluttershy imports everything, but as she doesn't make much she has to get Amazon Free Shipping whenever possible.

I can't imagine them doing a good crush plot involving the mane characters. It would throw off the status quo too much, and it would trigger a category 5 shitstorm in the fandom.

Although I could see maybe Sweetie Belle or Apple Bloom getting a crush on somepony and going to their sisters for advice.
