While I'm all for tinkering with software as a hobby, as a software developer I greatly respect companies desires to keep people from digging too deep into an OS like that. There's a reason that you're not allowed to mess with that stuff, and it usually comes down to the fact that low-level OS operations are the kind of things that when messed with can completely brick a device. Not only that, but it opens up easy and impossible to police avenues for piracy.

A Roc is pretty cool, but they're more or less completely outclassed by phoenixes in the "cool bird" department, and dragons in the "giant flying monster" category.

I'm not sure why the Chinese Zodiac has elements attached to signs, but they do and it makes the whole thing into a 60-year rotation as each sign rotates between the five Asian elements (wood, water, fire, metal and earth). The elements are also associated with certain personality traits that interact with the sign traits. Unfortunately, because of the qualities associated with the Fire Horse, women who were born in those years were highly discriminated against, at least in Japan (I'm not sure about China, oddly enough). In 1966 (a Fire Horse year), people were so afraid of giving birth to a girl that there was a reduced birth rate that year. In case anyone is wondering about me, my Western Zodiac sign is Cancer and my Eastern Zodiac is the Wood Ox. Probably the fictional work that has the most association with the Chinese Zodiac for me is the anime and manga series Fruits Basket (apparently the character I'm matched with is Hatsuharu, for those who are familiar with it).

I've been around, but I've more been reading the thread rather than posting. I noticed that Fluttershy and Celestia have joined as character sockpuppets, maybe I'll get to talk to them sometime. I'm sure Fluttershy would agree with me about being a dog lover!

On the eastern Zodiac I'm a Fire Tiger, while on the Western Zodiac I'm a Leo, which is always a fire sign anyway.

Hey everyone. Been reading Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain as part of one of my summer classes. Made me wonder if, at any point in the history of Equestria, any of the pony types had to deal with segregation issues. I could understand if Earth Ponies ended up getting the short end of the stick in the comparison, but I can't help but wonder if anything went deeper than that...

@Rainbow I'm not sure Fluttershy is coming back after I accidentally scared her off with Dragons. ^_^
