and let see...surprise surprise top spot was "Read EQD"

Urgh. I am starting to see serious rifts forming between myself and my family over the MLP issue. This could end poorly.

@Ginger I feel ya. My favorites are typically chosen on an analytical level, meaning I go for the ones with the most depth/development in my eyes. Of course, we're tropers, so we analyze everything. The average Joe feels most comfortable with what is familiar when they aren't forced to put tons of thought into it.

@Ginger: Yeah, a lot of how I view the characters revolves around how I can understand their actions and motivations. Hence I like Twilight, Rarity, and Fluttershy the most because I can sympathize with them really easily.
@Steve: Well, that stinks. Do they think that there's something wrong with the show or something?

I am nothing like pinkie but I love her a lot.

@JT Lets just say my parents do not look upon the earlier versions of the show fondly. That combined with just the wrong amount of willful ignorance has led to some, unfortunate, assumptions being made.

Classic
Yeah, I think that's the most memorable line of the movie.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

strap them down in the rig from A Clockwork Orange and feed them every episode plus as much fan stuff as you can find.

Literally, the ONLY time the protagonist has EVER been my fav character, was Allen Walker from D. Gray-Man.
I always get aggravated by Ensemble Darkhorses (mostly because I can never see the appeal)
but then again, I like incredibly minor characters too, so I'm one to talk

@Steve Yeah, that's more or less everyone's reaction to the show at first. My parents still can't comprehend anyone enjoying it, but they're taking my word for it, considering that I've managed to get all three of my siblings to enjoy it.
#200968Japanese TeethMon, 21st May '12 8:34:18 PMfrom Meinong's jungle
@Steve: Ah, I can see where this is going. Maybe you could show them some of the higher-quality fan material so they know that this is a popular thing and not just you being weird. Or get them to watch the episodes, although that might be more of an uphill battle.
#200971Perpetual LurkerMon, 21st May '12 8:36:06 PM
@Ginger I thought you liked latching on to unpopular background characters? Now imagine what happens when a whole bunch of like-minded people do that at the same time. Once the hipsters drop out, you're still left with a popular character that a whole bunch of people happened to like, even though they aren't that important.

My film studies lecturer was bewildered when I brought up MLP during our seminar on fandoms.
I just want to show everyone this video

steve I think what Jt said is a great idea. Maybe explaining how this show is different could help :)

@JT I am currently oat a "Diplomatic Disadvantage" in several ways. MLP is not the only issue at the moment. Just the most visible.
